LaundryTalk/ParleLavage is an ethnographic study of six laundromats in different neighbourhoods of Montreal, Canada. Through sound and image, Laundrytalk attempts to create a microcosm of these “third places”, that teeter between public and private, and are revisited weekly by many borough residents. Equally a study on language, these vignettes examine how different neighbourhoods of Montreal are defined–and redefined–by conversation, shifting from French, to English, and beyond.
